The next Call of Duty is not coming to PS4 (or presumably Xbox One)

It appears that fans of the brand will have to buy pricey newer consoles because new Call of Duty games will no longer be available on last-generation platforms like the PS4 and Xbox One. Recently, the official brand announced on social media that the "next Call of Duty is not being developed for PS4." Although Xbox One wasn't mentioned in the text specifically, I don't understand why a developer would waste money on the less well-liked of the two.

One of the final major series created for the aging console generation was Call of Duty. Call of Duty:

Black Ops 7, the previous entry, was accessible on nearly every platform, including the PS4

On the one hand, the console world operates in this manner. Since the PS5 and Xbox X/S are now almost six years old, various functions from all generations may be limited in order to ensure that contemporary titles can run on older systems. It requires careful balancing.

However, many individuals are unable to purchase the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S due to the dire state of the economy. The AI-fueled RAM problem, which has resulted in multiple price increases, exacerbates this. The current pricing of a regular disc-based PS5 is $650, $150 more than it was at launch. Once more, this console was released in 2020. Since launch, the price of the Xbox Series X/S devices has likewise skyrocketed.

In any case, although we don't have any official information, a new Call of Duty is anticipated for this year. According to rumors, it will be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. In June of last year, Activision Blizzard released a teaser for Black Ops 7.

By the way, Call of Duty will no longer be an Xbox Game Pass day one franchise. This is just one more way that staying up to date with the latest games has become more costly.
