Cyberpunk platformers, gallivanting geckos and other new indie games worth checking out

Welcome to our most recent summary of current events in the independent gaming industry. Once more, this weekend is a great time to check out some new games. We also have a number of news and updates regarding upcoming releases to share with you.

Recently, there have been a number of excellent indie showcases (and I'll tell you about the highlights of another one below). If you want to learn about a ton of other games ASAP, you might want to set your alarm pretty early on April 25.

The most recent Indie Life Expo takes place on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Bilibili, and other platforms starting at 5 AM ET that day. There will be almost 200 games in this one! 160 of them will be powered by a fast-paced Indie Waves section. Bravo to the organizers for showcasing a significant portion of the 1,100 submissions they received for this session.

On April 21, there will be another display before that. Top Hat Studios' Spring Showcase 2026 will begin on the publisher's Twitch and YouTube channels at noon ET.

Along with premieres and other Top Hat titles, the webcast will include Motorslice, Well Dweller, and the survival horror thriller Becrowned. With a May release window, Motorslice is something I've been anticipating. I'm betting that during this webcast, we'll get the exact release date.
